Call for photographic documentation

TAP Gallery is calling for photographic submissions to document its past operations from 1989-2015, in Taylor Square and of its Palmer and Burton Streets premises. Photographs received will be considered for the publication of Running TAP, a book project to be launched next year that documents the Gallery’s activities and accounts for the life-and-times of the independent arts spanning 30 years in Darlinghurst, Sydney (1990-2020).

We are looking for photographs that evoke ideas and emotions in ways that words alone cannot.  High quality photographic imaging in print, scanned, or other forms of digitisation is preferred.  Larger than A3 size in print-form will not be eligible.  Permissions and attribution are required.  Permission and attribution forms are available here: Permission form and Attribution form.  We encourage you to submit directly to the Gallery within opening hours, Monday – Sunday, 12-6pm. or by email to Jacqui on eziweb@optusnet.com.au.

We welcome your experiences through your photographic documentation of 30 years of Running TAP.  For more information please email: info@tapgallery.org.au, mobile: 0400 610 440, 259 Riley Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010

Deadline is now End April 2019.

Below are the winners

Here are some pix of the glorious but windy 2 days. We bought a beautiful white tent on line, which we set up on Friday, that blew away on the night with the wind tragically, so the plan of an outdoor gallery then became displaying the art on furniture!!!! Never the less it was a special weekend and images of the winners will come soon!

The kids form the local International Grammar School contributed some fantastic artwork. Parents & children came down to see. I know the teacher is really great because the artwork was amazing and the kids were so proud.!

There were some wonderful paintings on display & we sold too.

A new wonderful addition was the outdoor painting class both days hosted by artist Vee Malnar who represents PAINTED UP SYDNEY. Looking forward to next year! start painting your one foot square artworks & get involved in this wonderful community art festival.

Ann Lin – Third Solo Exhibition 2018 – Landscapes, Figures & Interiors

My work draws its inspiration from colours. Deep reds and greens or rich ultramarine/lapis blue are in strong contrast. To combine these colours together creates a tension. A dramatic mix of spirit and flesh.
I used these colours in “A nude man swimming in the ocean”. I employed a raw emotional energy to paint an abstracted ocean that has a strong sense of ‘rudeness’.
I have used green and pink for “The art class”, the result is a gentle and poetic relationship.
I also tend to have a powerful primary and secondary palette, mixing them to get black and gray, which creates a profound mystery.
“The view of the ANZAC bridge from the balcony after sunset” shows this result.
l liked to mix Australian Salmon Gum and deep Red  into the tonal base of some of my paintings, it creating kind of quiet and solitude mood.“The Living Room” is an example.
