To celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, an artists will be awarded first prize for The International Women’s Day ART PRIZE at TAP Gallery on Tuesday 8^th March.

The International Womens Day Art Prize is now in its 18^th year. Last year saw more than 100 entries in all media and the winner was selected by guest judges. Also included was a people’s choice award inviting the attending public to vote for their favourite work on the evening.

TAP Gallery is calling for artists to enter the 2025 INTERNATIONAL WOMENS ART PRIZE.

“We are passionate about the progression of women in all walks of life and it’s for this reason we have set up this annual prize”

The prize has an open theme allowing female artists to freely express themselves in all mediums & genres.

We invite the public to come on Saturday 8th March 4pm at Tap Gallery when the winner will be presented with their award voted by the general public in attendance.

Celebrating International Women’s Day with the launch of the “International Women’s Art Prize” TAP Gallery is featuring a week of Women’s events. Stay tuned for more Women in film, theatre, music & much more. All of these events are open to the public and all are welcome.

Saturday 17th May marks the 30th Anniversary of Australia’s 3rd largest Archibald Event – Real Refuses – where artists not selected for the ARCHIBALD, WYNNE, SULMAN Art Prizes exhibit their work at TAP Gallery in Surry Hills to win the popular “People’s Choice Award”, selected by the public on the night.

Real Refuses has become firmly established as part of the “Archibald Season”.

While it is an exhibition of rejected artwork, it is much more than that…

It is about giving a fair go to all the artists involved in Australia’s largest art events.

Not everyone can win an Archibald but here everyone can exhibit along side their peers.

(You’ll find past winners of Australia’s biggest art prizes here as well!)

In the past an extraordinary range of subjects have been shown, from well known musicians, actors, politicians including the NSW Premier, Mayor of Willoughby, Anthony Mundeen, Tony Abbott, Leo Sawyer, the then Prime Minister John Howard, Madame Lash, Elizabeth Cummings, Professor Bruce James Brew, and Jaiwei, (a winner of the Sulman.)

We can’t wait to see the works not selected this year!
