Alice Hattom Exhibition ‘WHY NOT!’ on display at the TAP 4 – 10 September, Opening Tuesday 5 September 6-8pm

Alice Hattom expressing a new age in expressionism

September 4th -10th 2017, Sydney

Sydney Expressionist’s artist Alice Hattom is having her first exhibition in Sydney and it is hitting like a summer storm in September this year, having recently returned from Venice Italy were her daughter Nadine Hattom was invited to present her works at the 57th Venice Biennale.

Born as a Mandaean in Iraq and being suppressed as a minority and as a woman in a man dominant culture, has left its impression on Alice. She has a lot of supressed emotions about social justice and fairness which you can see in her Art, you can see the releasing of these emotions in vibrant colours, and using a method of painting that has no restrictions, helps her in expressing the freedom she has longed for as a child. Mandaeans are a minority sect that has settled around the rivers of Iraq so they can continue to baptise for over 2000 years.

Artistic experimentation runs deep in the Artist’s family. Alice has an unconventional way of expressing and it shows clearly in her work of Art. Living and traveling to different parts of the world has expanded her unique and creative outlook on life in general and more so in the way she expresses and portrays unprecedented visual images of the environment and culture.

Alice Hatton Exhibition WHY NOT! will be running from the 4th of September till the tenth at The Tap Gallery 259 Riley St Surry Hill.
